Made to your measurements, not a size chart

Most bridal shops order a gown in the standard size closest to yours, then alter it down. Our designers cut each gown to your own measurements from the start. The result is a closer fit, usually fewer alterations, and a dress that moves with you instead of against you.

Four couture houses under one roof

We carry Le Spose di Giò, made in Milan since 1975; Modern Trousseau, an American couture house since 1986; Weilu Fresolone, a New York label known for hand-worked lace; and ZAKAA Couture, known for hand-set beadwork. You can compare all four in a single appointment.

Real customization

Loving a gown but wishing the neckline were different is common. Most of our designers allow genuine changes: a new neckline, added sleeves, a longer train, or with Modern Trousseau, a bodice paired with a different skirt. We plan those changes with you before anything is ordered.

Washington has dozens of bridal shops, and finding the right gown starts with finding the right place to look. These are the questions worth asking before you book.

1. Which designers does the boutique carry?

A boutique is only as good as its designers. Look at who they stock, where the gowns are made and what fabrics they use. If you already love a particular silhouette or house, check that the boutique carries it before you visit.

2. Is the gown made to your measurements?

Many gowns are ordered in the nearest standard size and altered afterwards. Made-to-measure gowns are cut to your own measurements, which usually means a better fit and less work at the alterations stage. Ask which approach each boutique uses.

3. Can you change the design?

Small changes, like a different neckline, sleeves or a longer train, can turn a gown you like into the one you want. Some designers allow a lot of customization, others very little. Ask before you fall in love with a style.

4. How do alterations work?

Ask who does the alterations, where, and how many fittings to expect. For most brides it is two or three fittings, starting eight to twelve weeks before the wedding. Bring your wedding shoes and undergarments to every fitting.

5. Will the appointment be private?

A private appointment with a dedicated stylist makes a real difference. You get honest advice, time to compare gowns properly and space to think without the noise of a busy sales floor.

6. Is the pricing clear?

Ask for a price range before you book, and ask what changes to the design will cost. A good boutique will be upfront about both.
